3-D Comic - Comic art that is printed in two-colors.  When 3-D glasses are worn, a true 3-D effect can be seen.

Abraded Corner - The grinding of a corner because of  improper handling or storage.

Accelerated healing - The ability to heal at an accelerated speed.

Acid generation - The ability to generate acid.

Adult comics - A comic that is geared towards mature audiences.

Adult Material - Material that is geared towards mature audiences.

Adzine - An  advertising magazine devoted to comic books and collectibles.

Air Manipulation - The ability to manipulate air.

Album - An European comic book with a hardcover and 48-pages.

Allentown Collection - A collection of comic books containing 135 Golden Age comics, which is characterized by high grade and superior paper quality.  The Allentown Collection was discovered in 1987 just outside Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Animal mimicry - Ability; the taking on of animal abilities/attributes.

Animation - The ability to bring to life an inanimate object.

Anime - Japanese animated cartoons.

Annual - Annuals are generally titles published once a year  (even though some have had more than one published in a year).

Arrival Date - The arrival date is the date the book was placed on the newstand.  It is often written or stamped on the cover a comics and precedes the cover date by approximately 15 to 75 days. 

Artwork - Original painted comic book art.

Average Fine - A term used to describe the condition of a comic book; "fine minus."

B & W - Abbreviation for "Black and White."

Backing Board - A piece of typically acid-free cardboard used in the storage and preservation of a comic.

Bad Girl Art - This term was coined in 1993 and describes both the attitude and style of art with women of sexually implicit ways.

Balloons - The bubble of text spoken by characters.

Baxter Paper - A white, high quality,  heavy paper used  sometimes in the printing of comics.

Bi-Monthly - A book published every two months.

Binder - The person who oversees the bindery process.

Bindery - The location where comic books are assembled.

Bindery Corner - Triangle spine corner tears that occur during the binding process.

Bindery Defects - A variety of defects that can occur when binding.

Bi-Weekly - A book published every two weeks.

Black Cover - Covers that are predominately black. High grade comics with black covers are highly prized by collectors.

Blurb - A promotional statement; copy which relates to the title.

Body part substitution - The ability to substitute one's body parts for another's.

Bondage Cover - A cover that shows a bondage scene with one or more person's in bondage.

Bone manipulation - The ability to manipulate ones bones by generating new bones/bone mass or by projecting them outside of one's body.

Border - The outline on a page.

Bound Copy - A copy having been bound into a book where the spine has been trimmed and sewn and bound.

British Issue - The price is mostly in pence instead of cents; distributed in Great Britain.

Brittleness - Refers to the deterioration of paper where it begins to lose its flexibility and may flake or chip.

Bronze Age - Term which describes the "Age" of comic books after the Silver Age and published between 1970 -  1980.

Browning -  The level of paper deterioration a step before brittleness, where the increased level of oxidation causes darkening.

Cameo - When a character appears in one or two panels, briefly.

Cartoonist - A person who specializes in drawing cartoons.

CBG - Comic Buyers' Guide; a weekly newspaper which was founded in 1971 and is the longest-running periodical to report on the industry.

Centerfold - The center of the book; where the book is stapled.

 Heat Vision - The ability to shoot hot stuff out of your eyes.

Super Strength - The ability to do super things with your strength.

Wrong Cover - When the cover from one comic is stapled to the interior pages of another; rare.

Worm Hole - A Hole eaten through paper by various bugs.

X-Over - Short for "crossover;" when a character crosses over into title.

X-Ray Vision - The ability to see through solid objects.

Zine - Short for "Fanzine."
